Operation AN (ii)

This was the designation of Allied convoys (together with a numerical and literal suffix) plying the route from the Admiralty islands group to New Guinea in the aftermath of the US 'Brewer' seizure of the islands, and as such reciprocals of the 'NA' series (April/August 1944).

An early example was AN.5A of 25/26 April 1944 from Seaadler Harbour to Langemak Bay with the 7,773-ton US Mormacsea, and the last AN.39A of 15/18 August 1944 from Seeadler to Langemak Bay with the 7,212-ton US Benjamin Waterhouse.
