Operation AW (ii)

'AW' (ii) was the designation of Allied local tanker convoys (together with a numerical suffix) plying the route from Aruba to Curaçao in the Netherlands West Indies, and as such reciprocals of the 'WA' series (September 1942/July 1944).

The first such 'Aruba to Willemstad' convoy was AW.1 that departed Aruba on 17 September 1942 with the 6,944-ton British British Hussar, 10,973-ton Norwegian Strinda, 4,078-ton US Unaco and Panamanian Pacific, and the last was AW.158 that departed Aruba on 27 July 1944.
