Operation Cairngorm

'Cairngorm' was a US special forces operation to parachute a four-man Office of Strategic Services team into the highlands of Japanese-occupied Malaya (late November 1944).

Undertaken using an adapted Consolidated B-24 Liberator four-engined long-range bomber in a 20-hour mission, this was the first Allied undertaking of World War II to paradrop agents into Malaya, and was intended to pave the way to the establishment of a greater liaison capability with the local resistance forces.
