Operation Carmen

'Carmen' was the German 24-hour prolongation of the air bombardment of the railway network around Kursk in the centre of the Soviet salient, which was scheduled for attack in 'Zitadelle', in an effort to slow if not totally prevent the movement of Soviet men and matériel through this chokepoint toward the front (2 June 1943).
