Operation Cocksure

'Cocksure' was a British unrealised plan for an airborne forces raid on the western coast of German-occupied Norway (summer 1943).

The operation was conceived as a way of supporting 'Tindall', and envisaged the parachute delivery of about 100 commandos onto the airfield at Sola near Stavanger, who they were to expand all their ammunition and then try to escape. No serious consideration was given to the notion, which could have achieved little in the way of any positive result and would almost certainly had led to the loss of all the men either killed or captured.
