Operation FT (i)

'FT' (i) was the designation of Allied convoys (together with a numerical and sometimes a literal suffix) plying the route between Fall River, Papua, and Townsville, Queensland (June/December 1943).

The first of the series was FT.1 of 19/21 June 1943 with the 4,286-ton British Taroona, 2,464-ton Dutch Van der Lign and 4,552-ton Dutch Van Heutsz escorted by the Australian sloop Swan, and the last was FT.44 of 30 November/2 December 1943 with the 3,057-ton Dutch Karsik and 2,065-ton Dutch Patras escorted by the Australian minesweepers Gympie and Wagga.
