Operation Gödecke

(name of the wolfpack's second in command)

'Gödecke' was a U-boat wolfpack operation in the Atlantic against the possible passage of several convoys (19/26 November 1941).

Formed as one of three lines with the 'Benecke' and 'Störtebecker' wolfpacks disposed to tackle the OG.77 convoy, the wolfpack comprised U-69, U-98, U-201 and U-572. Arriving too early to effect their planned interception of the convoy, the boats were therefore diverted on 22/23 November to the waters between southern Spain and North-West Africa, as well as off Gibraltar. In the event, the boats of this wolfpack neither lost any of their own number nor sank any ship.
