Operation GP (iii)

'GP' (iii) was the designation of Allied convoys (together with a numerical suffix) plying the route from Sydney to Townsville and Brisbane on the east coast of Australia, and as such reciprocals of the 'PG' (i) series (June 1942/February 1944).

Thew first of these convoys was GP.1 of 8/11 June 1942 from Sydney to Brisbane with the 3,116-ton British Aroona, 1,881-ton British Caradale, 3,376-ton British Corinda, 1,929-ton British Darvel, 2,526-ton British Macumba and 3,345-ton British Murada. The last convoy of the series was GP.110 of 16/18 February 1944 from Sydney to Brisbane with the 1,861-ton British Carlisle and 3,952-ton British Cycle.
