Operation Gratis

'Gratis' was a British naval undertaking off the coast of German-occupied Norway (11/13 January 1945).

Force 3 deployed for this undertaking, which was part of the larger and more ambitious 'Spellbinder' and directed more specifically at the Karm Sound, comprised the escort carriers Premier and Trumpeter, the light anti-aircraft cruiser Dido, the destroyers Cavendish, Opportune, Zest and Zodiac, and a number of motor torpedo boats for the air/sea rescue role.

As part of this undertaking carrierborne aircraft laid mines in the Salhusstrommen off Utsira island.
