'HSM' was a British naval sweep from Scapa Flow into the North Sea by the destroyers Gallant, Intrepid and Ivanhoe with what was, for the time, a high degree of air co-operation (17/18 March 1940).

Intrepid was moderately severely damaged in a collision with the trawler Ocean Drift, which sank.
