'Krebsfang' was the German use of small parties with powerful radio equipment in the Demyansk pocket to generate radio traffic suggesting to the Soviets that the Germans were planning a major undertaking, and thereby adversely affect the Soviet preparations for the offensive they were planning for the destruction of the pocket (26 October/10 November 1942).
