Operation LMD

'LMD' was the designation of Allied convoys (together with a numerical suffix) plying the route from Lourenço Marques, Portuguese East Africa, south to Durban, South Africa, and as such reciprocals of the 'DLM' series (1943/44).

An early example of this 'Lourenço Marques to Durban' series was LMD.25 of 8/11 July 1943 with the 9,977-ton British Britannia, 6,464-ton British Clan Macgillivray, 4,044-ton Greek Georgios Potamianos, 5,132-ton Dutch Hoogkerk, 4,062-ton Yugoslav Lucijana and 4,796-ton Greek Zephyros, and a late example was LMD.33 of 26/27 July 1944 with unspecified ships.
