Operation LW (ii)

'LW' (ii) was the designation of Allied convoys (together with a numerical suffix) plying the route from the east coast of the USA to the South-West Pacific Area (June/November 1942).

The first of the three convoys was LW.100 of 10 June/11 July from Norfolk, Virginia, to Wellington, New Zealand, with four US commissioned transport ships in the form of the 6,198-ton Alchiba, 6,198-ton Alcyone, 6,155-ton Libra and 6,982-ton Mizar. The last was LW.102 of 24 September/11 November from Norfolk, Virginia, to Nouméa, New Caledonia, with four US ships in the form of the 6,165-ton Fairisle, 10,501-ton Kenmore, 7,101-ton Robin Wentley and 7,177-ton Roger Williams.
