Operation MA (ii)

'MA' (ii) was the designation of Allied convoys (together with a numerical suffix) plying the route from Madras to Port Blair, Andaman Islands, or Chittagong, south-east India, and as such reciprocals of the 'AM' (i) series (January 1942/March 1945).

The first of the convoys was MA.1 of 3/7 January 1942 from Madras to Port Blair with the 5,196-ton British Ellenga. The last was MA.38 of 21/24 March 1945 from Madras to Chittagong with the 5,108-ton British Egra, 5,108-ton British Ekma, 5,196-ton British Ellenga and 4,651-ton British Varela.
