Operation Night Ranger

'Night Ranger' was the British overall designation for operations undertaken at night as counterparts of the daylight 'Ranger' operations (1941/May 1945).

Any such undertaking took the form of a low-level fighter-bomber sweep to a depth of 50 miles (80 km) or more over occupied Europe against German targets of opportunity with the primary object of drawing German fighters into combat and thereby degrading the latter’s strength and capabilities.
