Operation NT

'NT' was the designation of Allied convoys (together with a numerical suffix) plying the route from Port Moresby, New Guinea, to Townsville, eastern Australia, and as such reciprocals of the 'TN' series (January 1943/March 1944).

The first of the 75 such convoys was NT.1 of 31 January/2 February 1943 with two US transports in the form of the 7,181-ton David Bushnell and 7,176-ton George Matthews escorted by the Australian minesweeper Ballarat. The last was NT.74 of 14/16 March 1944 with two British transports in the form of the 7,710-ton Canberra and 5,832-ton Ormiston escorted by the Australian minesweeper Bowen.
