Operation Overjoyed

'Overjoyed' was a British operation by the aircraft of Air Vice Marshal F. L. Hopps’s No. 16 Group of Air Chief Marshal Sir William Sholto Douglas’s RAF Coastal Command in the period before, during and after the launch of 'Neptune' (iii) and 'Overlord' (April/July 1944).

The operation was designed to detect and destroy any German small naval craft attempting to attack the invasion force’s naval elements.
