Operation Oxalic

'Oxalic' was the British final objective for Lieutenant General Sir Oliver Leese’s XXX Corps of Lieutenant General B. L. Montgomery’s 8th Army in the 'Lightfoot' first phase of the 2nd Battle of El Alamein (24 October 1942).

This objective was a line running along the western side of the Miteirya Ridge to the north-west toward a point just to the north of Kidney Ridge. The other objective was 'Pierson' for Lieutenant General H. Lumsden’s X Corps, whose two armoured divisions were then to drive forward to 'Skinflint'.
