Operation Paula (ii)

'Paula' (ii) was a German and Croat possible operation against the partisan forces of Josip Broz Tito in the north-western part of the Grmeč mountain region in the area of Bosanska Krupa and Bihać in western Bosnia (4/5 May 1943).

To pin and destroy the Yugoslav 4th Assault Division, the Germans committed the 2/482nd Grenadierregiment of Generalleutnant Friedrich Karst’s 262nd Division, and the Croats their 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Battalions of Pukovnik Franjo Gjoić's 3rd Mountain Brigade. As there is no surviving record of the operation, it is probable that the undertaking was cancelled.
