'Prinz Eugen' (i) was a German major raid by the 143rd Gebirgsjägerregiment of Generalleutnant Christian Philipp’s 6th Gebirgsdivision of General Ferdinand Schörner’s Gebirgskorps 'Norwegen' within Generaloberst Eduard Dietl’s Armee 'Lappland' against the Soviet forces containing the German and Finnish forces seeking to break out toward Murmansk from the Zapadnaya Litsa river bridgehead in the north-western USSR (1 August 1942).
