Operation Ropetrick

'Ropetrick' was a British unrealised plan to take the Lingga and Rhio archipelagos in the Japanese-occupied Netherlands East Indies (1944/45).

The seizure of these island groups, off the east coast of Sumatra, would have deprived the Japanese of a useful fleet anchorage in Lingga Roads, to the south of Lingga island itself, and would also have opened the south-east approaches to Singapore and thus facilitated the planned seaborne landing to retake this strategically important island city in 'Zipper'.
