Operation Sedan

(French town)

'Sedan' was the German final major modification in the process of adapting 'Gelb' to include 'Sichelschnitt' (13 February 1940).

The modification emphasised the concentration of forces (especially armoured formations) in the area between Namur in the north and Sedan in the south for a decisive punch to the west across the Meuse river, especially round Sedan, followed by a streaming advance to reach the coast of the English Channel between Abbeville in the south-west and Calais in the north-east.
