'Silvertip' was the designation of Allied military ferry convoys (together with a numerical suffix) plying the route from Newhaven on the south coast of the UK to Dieppe on the north coast of France after the break-out of the Allied forces from the 'Overlord' lodgement in Normandy (autumn 1944).
