'Taxi' was the British unrequired plan for the defence of the oilfields and associated installations in the area round the northern Iraqi city of Mosul, which could have been threatened by a land advance by the Iraqi 2^nd Division from Kirkuk and the bombers of Oberst Werner Junck’s Sonderkommando 'Junck', which the Germans had despatched to Mosul via bases in Vichy French-held Syria (April/May 1941).
