Operation Tenable

'Tenable' was a British naval undertaking by elements of Admiral Sir Henry Moore’s Home Fleet to lay minefields against German shipping in the Ramisøysund, Lepsøyrev and Harrhamsfjord areas off the western coast of German-occupied Norway (28 September/2 October 1944).

The ships involved were the escort carriers Fencer and Trumpeter, the light anti-aircraft cruiser Euryalus and the destroyers Cambrian, Caprice, Cassandra, Myngs, Savage and Zambesi. The force reached its operational area in accordance with the plan, but the undertaking then had to be abandoned because of the complete adversity of the weather.
