'Tor' was the German third of a series of four naval minelaying operations off Portoferraio on the north-west coast of Italy by two ex-Italian torpedo boats of Korvettenkapitän Wirich von Gartzen’s 10th Torpedoboots-Flottille (2/14 June 1944).

One of the torpedo boats, TA 27, was sunk in an attack by Republic P-47 Thunderbolt fighter-bombers of the US 332nd Fighter Group on 9 June.
