Operation Torrent

'Torrent' was the Allied original designation for the cover and deception operation later designated as 'Appendix Y', itself replaced by 'Mespot' and 'Fortitude', for 'Neptune' (iii) and 'Overlord', and created to suggest a major amphibious landing in the region of the Pas de Calais on the north-east coast of German-occupied France (spring/summer 1944).
