Operation Trousers (ii)

'Trousers' (ii) was a British tactical deception by Colonel David Strangeways' 'R' Force organisation of General Sir Bernard Montgomery’s British 21st Army Group to cover the 'Totalize' and 'Tractable' attacks of General H. D. G. Crerar’s Canadian 1st Army on the northern face of the Falaise pocket (August 1944).

The plan was based on persuading the Germans into keeping most of their armoured strength on the western face of the salient as it closed into a pocket, and thereby reducing the task faced by Lieutenant General G. G. Simonds’s Canadian II Corps.
