Operation VB

'VB' was the designation of Allied convoys (together with a numerical suffix) plying the route from Townsville to Brisbane, eastern Australia, and as such reciprocals of the 'BV' series (May/July 1943).

The first of these convoys was VB.35 of 29/31 May with the 7,181-ton US Edward Rowland Sill, 7,176-ton US Henry D. Thoreau, 3,352-ton British Mangola, 3,322-ton British Time and 2,257-ton British Yarra, and the last was VB.45 of 28 June/1 July with the 7,176-ton US B. F. Shaw, 4,608-ton Dutch Cremer, 7,181-ton US David Bushnell, 7,176-ton US Edmund Randolph, 7,176-ton US General George W. Goethals, 7,176-ton US Junipero Serra, 3,391-ton British Shwedagon, 1,594-ton Dutch Sibigo and 2,147-ton Dutch Van Swoll.
