Operation Viceroy

'Viceroy' was a British unrealised plan for operations against the forces of Generaloberst Dr Lothar Rendulic’s 20th Gebirgsarmee in the area of Kirkenes and Petsamo, in the extreme north of German-occupied Norway, and in Finland (1943/44).

The main object of such an undertaking was to have been the seizure of the naval and air bases from which the Germans were attacking the Allies' Arctic convoys plying to and from the ports of the northern USSR.
