Operation VP

'VP' was a British programme of offensive patrols by motor torpedo boats operating from bases in the Orkney and Shetland island groups against German shipping along the west coast of German-occupied Norway (November/December 1942).

It had been planned to start 'VP' during the first half of November, but the first sortie was delayed by bad weather and then the entire operation was seriously affected by the continued adverse conditions. German shipping was spotted on only one occasion, when two ships were hit by torpedoes from MTB-620 and MTB-623 and left sinking at Askevold.
