'Westlösung' was a German unrealised plan by the anti-Nazi movement in the armed forces to destroy the Nazi administration, end hostilities on the Western Front, withdraw all German troops to the 'Westwall' defences and seek the start of peace negotiations with the Western Allies in the hope of concluding an agreement whereby the Western Allies and Germans joined forces against the USSR on the Eastern Front (July 1944).
