Operation Xenophon

'Xenophon' was a German special forces undertaking by the 800th Küstenjägerabteilung of Oberstleutnant Paul Haehling von Lanzenauer’s Lehr-Regiment 'Brandenburg' zbV 800 to create the operational conditions deemed desirable before the movement of German and Romanian units of Generalfeldmarschall Erich von Manstein’s 11th Army of Generalfeldmarschall Wilhelm List Heeresgruppe 'A' from Crimea across the Strait of Kerch to the Taman peninsula in 'Blücher II' (July 1942).
