Operation 10th Armoured Division

This was a British deception designed to persuade the Axis forces in the Western Desert that the British forces under the overall command of General Sir Archibald Wavell had at their disposal one more armoured division than they actually possessed (February 1941).

Created during 'Compass' and its immediate aftermath, '10th Armoured Division' was created in an effort to persuade the Axis forces that the British strength in the Agedabia area, reached at the end of 'Compass', was too great for the Axis forces to contemplate any immediate riposte. '10th Armoured Division' was merged into 'Plan A-R' during March 1941.
