Operation Dallas

'Dallas' was a US tactical deception during the battle for Metz in eastern France to persuade the Germans that the corps artillery of Major General Walton H. Walker’s US XX Corps within Lieutenant General George S. Patton’s US 3rd Army remained in its original location even as it moved to a new position (2/10 November 1944).

This was just one of several such small deceptions planned and implemented successfully by the 23rd Headquarters Special Troops during the campaign in France.
