'Dietrich' was a German unrealised plan by Adolf Hitler to effect the relief of Generaloberst Friedrich Paulus’s 6th Army, trapped in Stalingrad by the success of the Soviet 'Uran', from 7 January 1943, using SS-Obergruppenführer und General der Waffen-SS Josef Dietrich’s 1st SS Panzergrenadierdivision 'Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler' and Generalleutnant Walter Hörnlein’s Division 'Grossdeutschland' (mot.) (late 1942/early 1943).
