Operation Domesday

'Domesday' was an Allied deception plan, later developed as 'Starkey' and finally becoming 'Broadsword' (i), within the 'Cockade' strategic deception scheme (summer/autumn 1943).

The operation was designed to suggest to the Germans that the Allies intended to land 14 British and Canadian divisions to establish a major lodgement, centred on Boulogne, on the coast of German-occupied north-eastern France some time between 8 and 14 September 1943.
