Operation FO

This was an Allied naval operation to ensure the safe arrival of the US Navyís Task Group 112.1 in British waters after its passage from Halifax, Nova Scotia (18/19 August 1943).

TG112.1 comprised the light fleet carrier Ranger, heavy cruisers Augusta and Tuscaloosa, and destroyers Bell, Corry, Forrest, Hobson and Isherwood, and was met off Cape Wrath by the British light anti-aircraft cruiser Phoebe before reaching Scapa Flow in the Orkney islands group for temporary service with Admiral Sir Bruce Fraserís Home Fleet.
