Operation Force 'Z'

'Force Z' was a British convoy operation between Cape Town and Suez in association with 'Ironclad' (19 February/7 March 1941).

The convoy comprised three 9,900-ton 'Glen' class transports (Glenearn, commissioned Glengyle and Glenroy) and the 20,043-ton Oronsay between them carrying 20,043 troops, of whom 2,831 were earmarked for 'Ironclad'.
