'Grosse Lösung' was a German unrealised plan ordered by Adolf Hitler in an effort to save Generaloberst Friedrich Paulus’s 6^th Army, trapped at Stalingrad, by the use of major mobile forces drawn from Generalfeldmarschall Erich von Manstein’s Heeresgruppe 'Don' and Generalfeldmarschall Ewald von Kleist’s Heeresgruppe 'A' (27 December 1942 onward).
