'Ida' (i) was the German occupation, within 'Achse' (ii), of the Istrian peninsula between Trieste and Fiume at the head of the Adriatic Sea, in the period after the Allied armistice with Italy, in order to safeguard littoral communications between German-occupied Italy and Yugoslavia (September 1943).
