Operation Loadstar

'Loadstar' was the US deception plan to cover the 'End Run', 'Foghorn' and 'Milepost' Lend-Lease transfer of US warships to the USSR (March/April 1945).

Co-ordinated with the 'Valentine' (iv) deception suggesting a realistic US threat to the Japanese positions in the Kurile islands group, 'Loadstar' concealed the location and movement of vessels from the west coast of the USA and from Alaska by suggesting a destination in the central Pacific rather than the USSR’s Siberian ports, and from the western end of the Panama Canal by suggesting a destination in the South Pacific.
