Operation Maiglöckchen

lily of the valley

'Maiglöckchen' was a German operation against the partisan forces of Marshal Josip Broz Tito in German-occupied Yugoslavia (17 May 1944).

SS-Gruppenführer und Generalleutnant der Waffen-SS Karl-Gustav Sauberzweig’s (from 1 June SS-Brigadeführer und Generalmajor der Waffen-SS Desiderius Hampel’s) 13th SS Gebirgsdivision 'Handschar' (kroatische Nr 1) moved to the south in the direction of Stolica from the area in which it had been involved in 'Maibaum', and encountered the 17th 'Majevica' Brigade, pushing it back with only moderately light losses on each side.
