'Rover' was the Allied core designation for the close air support of their ground forces in the Italian campaign (July 1943/April 1945).

The basic variants of the British-developed system were 'Rover David' (the baseline system) and 'Rover Frank' (the version for the support of the Royal Artillery in counter-battery work), while the US counterpart was 'Rover Joe'.
