'Sonderstab F' (ii) was a German air surveillance and reconnaissance programme by the aircraft of General Hellmuth Felmy’s Generalkommando zbV 'Felmy' to provide information about Soviet strengths and deployments in the area bounded by Elista, the Caspian Sea and the estuary of the Volga river (13 September 1942).
The undertaking was designed to provide intelligence for the later stages of the 'Edelweiss' offensive of Generalfeldmarschall Wilhelm List’s Heeresgruppe 'A', currently under direct control of the Oberkommando des Heeres, into the Caucasus region of the southern USSR.
