'Sophia' was a British programme of preliminary air reconnaissance for 'Tungsten', the attack on the German battleship Tirpitz by carrierborne aircraft of the Fleet Air Arm, undertaken by aircraft operating from an airfield in the northern part of the USSR (late March/early April 1944).
