Operation Sparrow (ii)

'Sparrow' (ii) was a US special forces operation to parachute a three-man Office of Strategic Services team into the Drava area of Hungary to open negotiations about a Hungarian surrender to the Allies (16 March 1944 onward).

Arriving in Hungary only three days before Germany moved troops into Hungary and assumed overall control of the country in 'Margarethe I', the 'Sparrow' party was quickly seized by the Germans and held for the rest of the war.
