'UGS' was the designation of Allied slow convoys (together with a numerical and sometimes a literal suffix) plying the route from Chesapeake Bay on the eastern coast of the USA to the Mediterranean (November 1942/May 1945).
The first of 100 such convoys was UGS.2 of 13 November/1 December 1942 with 45 transport and merchant vessels, and the last was the dispersal convoy UGS.95 of 28/29 May 1945 with 29 merchant vessels and four escorting warships.
