Operation Andreas

'Andreas' was a German unrealised plan by SS-Sturmbannführer Alfred Naujocks, an officer specialising in the development and implementation of unusual concepts, to produce counterfeit £1 notes for dispersal over the UK in an effort to destabilise the British economy (December 1939).

Preparations were well in hand early in March 1941, when responsibility for the plan was assumed by SS-Obergruppenführer Reinhard Heydrich and the plan was then revised as 'Bernard'.
