Operation Astra

'Astra' was a German convoy operation between Romania and the southern coast of Crimea in the Black Sea (11/13 May 1944).

The convoy was targeted by Soviet naval forces including the submarine L-4, which on 11 May torpedoed and damaged the 7,327-ton tanker Friederike, while A-5 missed a landing craft, Shch-201 missed the submarine chaser UJ 105, and M-62 missed the Romanian minelayer Dacia. On the following day S-33 sank a motor yacht and a barge with gunfire, Shch-201 attacked a transport and a tug off Cape Olinka, and damaged the landing craft F 568, and A-5 missed a transport but sank a small vessel and on 13 May claimed a transport and a sailing vessel.
